ST. GEORGE - Excitement, spirit, crowds going wild, and the tough competition made up Dixie’s Homecoming Football game vs. Hurricane.

The face painting started off Dixie’s, “We believe that we will win!” saying.

When walking aroundm the colors Blue and White swarmed the atmosphere and the crowd was going crazy before the kick-off had even begun.

The Cheerleaders, Jettettes, and Football team gathered with Hurricane’s and chanted their own words and songs while being filmed on KSL. The group was loud and very competitive.

When the stands were filled with crazy school fanatics the KSL helicopter was hovering around Walt Brooks Stadium and decided to land in the middle of the football field!

As people were trying to get a better look, one of the doors opened and Tadd Challis stepped out with his leg brace on and triumphantly walked down the middle of the field to his teammates.

The helicopter took off and Tadd Challis and two of his other teammates walked back to the middle of the field and the coin was tossed for kick-off.

The choir sang the national anthem and everyone stared in awe at the American flag as the JROTC members walked proudly with it in their hands down the field.

Everybody in the crowds let go their blue and white balloons and it was time for the game to begin!

The songs and the chants went on all night long and no matter how much Dixie was losing, they never lost their voice and the band never lost its sound.

Competition rose between the crowds throughout the game and the opposing teams yelled at each other through their school chants. Some even doing the wave and jumping up and down on the bleachers.

At halftime the Jettettes performed their amazing routine and the crowd went wild. Color guard also did theirs and everybody was ecstatic. Last but not least the Cheerleaders did their extreme routine and they were fantastic!

Homecoming royalty rode in fancy cars at half-time and when they got to the end of their drive around Dixie’s track, they stepped out of the cars and walked to the flowing red carpet displayed on the turf.

With each person standing side by side, Daysa Porras and Justin Crapo were announced Homecoming king and queen and the stadium’s sounds echoed throughout St. George.

By time the game had ended, the disappointing score was 21-51. Even though it was a defeat, Dixie’s school spirit was still intact.

As the teams shook hands and walked off the field the sounds of Dixie rang.

The century year old school’s spirit will never be lost or forgotten and Dixie will continue to stand tall.
