ST. GEORGE - Dixie High School's girls Tennis team came back from the state tournament with all three of the varsity singles finishing in the top three.
These spots were filled by Cydnee Wilkinson, Janessa Watts, and Kylie Hardin. The girls helped the team to a 9-4 record in region that put the Flyers in second place.
The Dixie Tennis team "did better than I thought they would," said their coach Eric Christensen when asked about the season. Dixie High Junior, Cydnee Wilkinson, was the team's first singles, she finished second in the state and region tournaments. Her overall record was 17-6.
Dixie High Senior Janessa Watts won region in the second singles bracket. She also took third in the state tournament.
When asked about what Watts enjoyed about the season she replied "I liked getting candy bars when I won.” She ended her senior year with a 21-1 record.
Kylie Hardin, who’s a Dixie High Senior, played in third singles. She finished third in the state tournament and took region. She wrapped up her season with a 20-1 record.
As Christensen talked about the girls he said, "All three of the girls were captains on and off the court."As for who will replace the seniors girls Christensen said, "There are a lot of girls that are at the same level and it depends on who works the hardest in the off season.”
Whatever the case may be let’s hope the upcoming girls can kick some rival school butt.
