ST. GEORGE - This year's girl’s soccer team kicked off to a great start and ended it awesome as well.
There were a lot of struggles, but they managed to pull through like always.
The team stayed strong together and that's all that matters.
When asking Sophomore Alexa Bernabe how the team did at state this year she replied, “Well, we lost in state. We played Juan Diego and the final score was 3-1.”
Even though the soccer team lost, it was a good game on the pitch. “I think we dominated the whole game, they just slipped three goals and it won them the game," said Bernabe.
They worked their way through the season and deserved a chance to play in the playoffs.
In reflecting on some of the more memorable moments, Bernabe said, “The best moment for the team was when Emma Paisley scored, but the worst was when we had lost the game that we dominated and played our best at. It was the best game we've ever played and it sucks that we lost it.”
There were also a few seniors on the Dixie Girl's Soccer team this year.
Senior Nicole Thomas was asked what it feels like being a senior and knowing it is her last year on the team. “Well, I am way sad that I will never get to play for Dixie and on our great team ever again. What I will miss most of all are the girls on the team because we are like a family.
It’s very interesting to know some of the best memories Nicole had too, “My favorite memory would have to be when we had a party after tryouts and we got to know all of the freshmen and new players. Then we played the best senior prank on everyone! I think the greatest accomplishment is how close we got the team to be. There was no drama and we all were friends”.
They were a great team this year and are done for the season.
Next year Dixie will have new people on the team and will have to work hard to be as good as they were this year.
Go Dixie!!
